My computer is 7 years old and has been showing messages regarding trouble in the bios lately, so I had to buy a new one. I ordered one with Windows 8 on it, even though my husband warned me that it would be a big change.

And sure enough, the challenges started as soon as it arrived.

Suddenly, I realized that my whole life was on my old computer. And moreover, it dawned on me that copying my life over to the new one wasn’t going to be an easy task at all.

My heart skipped a beat when I realized that my email box and my iTunes playlists weren’t going to be the same. Don’t even get me started on Windows 8 usability! Everything has changed, and everything has a new place.

I know change is inevitable, and I do my best to greet it with joy. But the truth is this:

Stepping outside of your comfort zone often feels a bit fearful, painful, and awkward.

I’m the kind of person who wants to understand it all at once, solving all the issues and getting it fixed right away. This attitude leads to stress and feeling more lost than ever. I keep telling myself that “Change is fun, easy and rewarding. You will get into this soon.”

But maybe there is another side to the coin. Maybe this is an opportunity for me to clean up my files, playlists, and old emails, and to start afresh with a new approach towards things.

And today, I can say that changing my perspective has provided me with a new inspiration and has definitely contributed to my growth.

Remember this… You can’t reach for anything new if your hands are still full of yesterday’s junk!
